History of Belvedere Sailing Society

The Belvedere Sailing Society was founded on December 2, 1949, by Belvedere residents to encourage social and water activities on the lagoon, promote friendships, and foster a sense of community for the enjoyment of all Belvedere residents. This vibrant community organization has persisted over the years thanks to volunteers. The center of activity is the Mann boathouse at 50 Lagoon Road, which was dedicated to Sam and Bea Mann in 2010 in recognition of their lifelong dedication to the BSS. Lido racing takes place on summer Sundays, followed by a post-race party for Lido members, and Lasers racing occurs on weeknights during the summer months. Recently, stand-up paddleboarding has been organized as an annual event. The social calendar includes three annual parties organized by the Commodores, held at the Mann Boathouse or private residences.

No BSS membership automatically grants access to the private lagoon waters or the ability to store equipment at the boathouse. Active members can inquire about the availability of storage.
